Looking For Opinions....OT
I know we all have them so tell me yours....

DH and I are *thinkning* about trying again...thinking!!!! Jsut thinking people....Don't get all excited on me...

Besides it took us 6 years to concieve last time so you all could be waiting a LONG LONG time to her me say I am preggers!!!!

My question is this. My last preg wa VERY easy. I mean really easy. I worked out 6 days a week including the week I gave birth...LOL And worked teaching right up until the day befroe I was induced with NO issues whatsoever.

My issue right now it I am badly OUT OF SHAPE!!!!! Very badly!!!! Since Jedd has been born we haven't been able to get back into the gym like we were before he was born.

I kno wmy body would have a much easier time being preggers IF I were to be in full fitness shape. I mean carrying, pushing and and the whole nine yards would be much easier.

So should I get back in shape and loose some weight before getting/trying to concieve again??????

Just FYI...I weighed 128lbs when I concieved Jedd and right now I am about 155ish.....ansd like I said WAY OUT OF SHAPE!!!!!!

I am kinda lieanign towards getting back in shape again considering I had the gest. diabetes last time...I don't want that to be worse this time due to less exercise...KWIM????

JMO-You sound like me. I work out 6 days a week and have w/ both kids until the day I deliver. That being said I have not had many side issues w/ being preggers. I noticed I had more energy during pregnancy and a much quicker recovery after than most of my friends who did not work out. That being said-if you aren't looking to be pg next month why not go ahead and head to the gym??? I also found Weight Watchers to be an excellent way to loose weight! Good luck and feel free to email me anytime if you want. I am trying not to get on my soap box here-heehee. I can totally understand how it has been hard to get back to the gym. You have so much on your plate and Jedd is and should be your first priority. You are such a great mom to him. J oh yea-my email is jenniferhaub@sbcglobal.net

Maggie is now 3 years old and reflux free (knock on wood). I still check in some to see how everybody is doing :) Hugs to all!
I don't know how tall you are but those are my numbers pretty much. I'm short though. I've never been much on exercising even though I know I should.

My pregnancy with Morgan was by the book--easy. With Mags it was pretty easy too. I worked until a couple weeks before and just had some issues with pressure. I have never been "in shape". In my opinion, I think it makes it smoother but I wouldn't let it keep me from trying. Especially not if it had taken me a while before.

Tracey, mom to Katie diagnosed with GERD at 3 week.
It's a good thing this isn't the first post I've read her otherwise I would not like any of you three!! :) I had a horrible pregnancy and while we want more kids I can't imagine being pregnant again! Had to quit work at 3 months because blood pressure was so low(down to double digits) that I couldn't take a shower without a nap. Second trimester was ok but at 30 weeks I got PUPPS (Pruritic urticarial papules and plaques of pregnancy) and about ripped my skin off with itching and steroid creams. Because I am 5 foot tall and ds is 6'1" Katers was pressing against my cervix trying to get more room at 32 weeks on. Lucky ducks! Good luck if you do decide to start trying; maybe this time it won't take so long!! :)

As you all know, I had a HORRID pregnancy....and although I work out now, the second i get pregnant it will STOP!! due to my incompetent cervix I canNOT. I will probably end up on bedrest again (strict) and I will have a cerclage placed (2 surgeries per pregnancy from now on, since I have to have c-sections too!). My weight is the same as yalls :) and I am restarting WW tomorrow after taking several weeks off and am restarting running tomorrow as the smoky air here in Ca is clearing a little!

Jessica, I agree with Jenn, since it may take awhile to get preggos, you may as well start losing weight/working out now. I know a lot of women say they would rather wait until after they are done having kids to get back in shape, but my take is that the less weight you have to take off after each pregnancy, the better, rather than stacking it all up!

We will probably start trying next summer. As much as I have baby fever already, i am under drs orders to wait at least until Dec, and I think for sanity's sake I need more time to have my body to myself before going through the hormone pills, cerclage, possible bedrest, possible preemie/NICU time, etc etc

Thansk ladies!!!!! I am about 5'3'' tall so that weight is not the greatest at all for my height...LOL

We really are laeanig towards heading back to the gym in the next month and I think we are going to try again I maybe in the winter some time.

And you are right whichever one said it, it is easier to get preg. if you are at the right weight. The OBGYN thinks that may have been someof my issues before with it taking sooo olong lat time. I was very overweight until I lost a ton of weight.

Jennifer - 1st time mom. Lauren (6/1/07) diagnosed 9/07 with GER at 3 1/2 months. Prevacid 7.5 mg in the am. Currently drinking whole milk and eating great!!
No longer aspirating! Yippee!
Picture: Why would Lauren play with the hundreds of dollars worth of toys scattered in my living room?!?! When she could play in a box! Estimated move date: Oct. 3rd!
Jessica you inspire me to think I might be able to endure another reflux baby! Right now anyone who asks me (which is a lot of people lately!) I tell them that I need a YEARS worth of sleep before I can make that decision ;)

I say go to the gym AND try for a baby! I am also way more out of shape now that I was when I conceived with Lauren and my pregnancy was relatively easy.

Best of Luck!

TWINS:
Ella 5/3/05 GERD, asthma, hypotonia, food intolerances, esophagitis, IBS //
Ava 5/3/05 asthma, food allergies
Pic: My girls! They are getting so big!
Jessica~ I vote for the gym. :) I had a healthier pg with my twins than I did with Melina. I believe it was because I was in better shape and worked out (until I was 6 months along and they made me stop).

I think it can help you to get pg and have a healthier pg as long as you are working out AND eating right. You don't want to work out and hard core diet though. That will only deplete your body of what it needs to nourish a baby should you become pg.

Balance is key, IMO.

If it were me I would also start taking prenatal vitamins and ask about extra folic acid. I was told a bit extra (more than in just the prenatals) can help if you have a hard time getting pg. (Who knows but we had infertility issues so I was willing to give it a shot). You might want to ask your DR.

I am also a firm believer in pre-preg visits. Just a general wellness kind of check to make sure there isn't any health problem you might need to deal with or know about, kwim?

I am full of opinions for ya. Take them or leave them. LOL!!!

Coyle Eagan. One Year Old. Doing well on Cow's Milk flavored with juice :) Drinking two bottles of Go&Grow daily. Eating solids better but still have rough days. No More Silent Reflux-that I can hear anyway.. but puking again. Zantac 2ML 2X daily.
JMO, but i'd give yourself 6 mo. of healthy eating, regular exercise, and pre-natal vitamins before you start trying. it will at least make you feel better knowing you got yourself a little more healthy first. the exercise will give you a better mindset as well!

thanks for the reminder about prenatal vitamins....I have been out of them for a few months and I need to get started again! oh yeah, and jessica, I wonder if it would be a good idea to do the diabetes diet as soon as you start trying....would that help prevent gest diabetes? I started running again this am, just like I said I would (with a lot of walking in between, LOL). Go, me!

Sarah, you are too funny! you must be pretty excited if you started testing 11 days too early! I charted my waking temps for a couple years while TTC....and I could tell if I was pregnant without taking a test! I found out with Elyse when I was 3.5 weeks pregnant this way, took a test and it was positive! have you tried charting? it is also the only way i knew when to do the deed....my cycles were so screwed up i never would have had a clue otherwise

Mom (Danie) to Adam (9-4-03) & Nate (3-7-07) Nate was diagnosed with silent AR at 2 months old. He was on neocate, prevacid 30mg per day and couldn't start solids till he was almost 8 months old. He started cow's milk at 14 months and is currently off all meds!! So far so good :) PIC: Disney trip 2008. Nate didn't know Piglet was there, he didn't like the characters too much.
Well, if I had it to do all over again, I would have been in shape for both of my pregnancies. I am not going to list my weight (LMAO) but I probably would have had an easier pregnancy if I were more "fit". I am excited that you guys are getting ready for #2. I feel so complete knowing that we are done...something I never felt after just having Adam. I sometimes wish I hadn't had my tubes tied tho...especially with all of you guys here that are preggers or talking about it!!

Unexplained seizure 4/1. Negative CF sweat test 4/4! EGD 11/19: reflux damage in esophagus. pH probe 11/19, reflux improved. Meds: Nexium 10mg 2x daily. Carafate as needed, miralaxx as needed, probiotics daily
Jessica, I think getting healthy first is a great idea. It can absolutely affect your chances. Charting can really help too, but it can get tedious, even obsessive, and the added stress can interfere. I had a horrible pg also, at the specialist they always ask about the pg and the list of problems is so long. Here it goes: concived via IUI/injectable fert. meds, ovarian hyper stimulation syndrome from the drugs, hyperemisis (lost 10 lbs, on zofran the whole pg), contractions at 20w, cervical changes, bedrest and meds at 24w, kidney stone at 31w, hospitalized and had stint placed, preclampsia at 38w had to be induced. and you all know what it's been like since he was born! All this and I still want more someday. Just not sure if I want to carry them or adopt! I hope things go super smooth for you. Seamus mom, you crack me up, we know what's on you mind! LOL

I'm so happy you're entertaining the idea! We're thinking about trying again when Rory turns 2!! As far as being out of shape, I think as long as you are eating healthy, taking your vitamins, and chasing your toddler, you'll be just fine. I don't work out and didn't when I was pregnant. I gained 60lbs!!! But my weight just started coming off since Rory has been walking. Walking, too, is great exercise. If you are up to going back to the gym, I'd say, DO IT!!! I bet it would be a nice break for you and would give you more energy. You will have to do all those things to take care of your gestational diabetes anyway. I wouldn't wait, especially if you had a hard time getting preggers. Good luck. :)

Melissa - Mommy to Sebastian, born 9/28/07 @ 7 lbs 7 oz and 20.75 in. At docs at 12 months: 27 pounds and 32 in! Good grief! GERD - currently on Prevacid suspension (liquid equivalent of 45 mg a day). Allergic to dairy, soy, eggs, wheat, all treenuts, peanuts, fish, shellfish, peas, sesame, bananas, barley, coconut, dust, dust mite, dog, cat, latex. Seasonal allergies. Oral Allergy Syndrome (OAS). Neocate only - no solids - until further notice (drinks and loves water, too). Loves his doggie, our rescued Treeing Walker Coonhound, Louise, even though he is allergic to her. Louise will make your doctor a homemade pie if you would like her to. PHOTO: We couldn't do a cake on Sebastian's birthday, but that didn't stop him from tossing around the contents of a big bowl of popcorn! He now tries to eat it when we play with popcorn, so no more of that game.... :(
I think you should try and get back into shape before trying. Otherwise, you're going to make it that much harder on yourself after baby #2 comes...you'll have to get back into shape from Jedd and THEN from the new baby..all at once. And that sucks, especially when you're trying to take care of two little ones. Can you start walking now? You can keep that up right until you give birth. I walked two miles while I was in early labor with Sebastian and had NO idea...I was just trying to walk off my back pain! ha!

I will say that while I would trade Sebastian's allergies in a second, at least they hleped me get back to my prebaby weight because I can't eait anything around him when he is awake...and since he never sleeps, well, you know.

It might take you only one time this time around!!
