Donnessa, mom to Halley born 3/10/07
Reflux (mostly) resolved at 14 months
and Addison born 8/17/09. Currently exclusively bf and on 7.5mg Prevacid
Halley's 15 month (well, really 16 month) appt
We just got back from Halley's well baby check. Our little future supermodel-president-veternarian weighs 24 lbs 10 oz and is 33 inches tall. She's now in the 97th percentile for height and 75th for weight (25th to 50th for weight vs height). It's hard to believe she's come so far after starting out so little. She's really doing well overall.

The only negative is that she has ANOTHER ear infection. The pedi seems to think it's only her 4th, but I have counted 8 (I think he forgets her ears get infected with each sinus infection). Anyway, he said that most kids outgrow their ear infections between 18 months and 2 years of age. I hope that's the case, because I'm seriously debating taking her to an ENT.

We're nearing the end of the second week of no Prevacid and other than a few doses of Mylanta, she's done great. She seems to be tolerating most foods with the exception of things that have tomato in them, which isn't a surprise because my sister has the same issue.

The pedi wants us to pull the night time bottles and only give a sippy. Not looking forward to that one bit. I guess we'll pull the bottle first and then try CIO again...she's gotten really bad lately with waking once or twice during the night and with the topsy turvy schedule we've had the last month, we haven't been very consistent about her staying in her bed. Guess we have some work to do :-)

Maggie is now 3 years old and reflux free (knock on wood). I still check in some to see how everybody is doing :) Hugs to all!
She's so tall! Like you didn't know that, lol. I would take her to an ENT. I made that decision with Mags, without the ped's referral.

Jennifer - 1st time mom. Lauren (6/1/07) diagnosed 9/07 with GER at 3 1/2 months. Prevacid 7.5 mg in the am. Currently drinking whole milk and eating great!!
No longer aspirating! Yippee!
Picture: Why would Lauren play with the hundreds of dollars worth of toys scattered in my living room?!?! When she could play in a box! Estimated move date: Oct. 3rd!
That's great news about her size and the prevacid. I am with you on the ear infections...Lauren has had 4 in and when we saw the ENT he told us "one more" because most kids outgrow them at about this age...We'll see!

We also have not pulled the nighttime bottle...yet. I asked the GI about it and she said if it were her child she'd wait a little longer, so that's all the incentive I need to keep it around a little longer. I am going to really try in about a month though. It will be easier to handle before I go back to work. Good luck!

Melissa - Mommy to Sebastian, born 9/28/07 @ 7 lbs 7 oz and 20.75 in. At docs at 12 months: 27 pounds and 32 in! Good grief! GERD - currently on Prevacid suspension (liquid equivalent of 45 mg a day). Allergic to dairy, soy, eggs, wheat, all treenuts, peanuts, fish, shellfish, peas, sesame, bananas, barley, coconut, dust, dust mite, dog, cat, latex. Seasonal allergies. Oral Allergy Syndrome (OAS). Neocate only - no solids - until further notice (drinks and loves water, too). Loves his doggie, our rescued Treeing Walker Coonhound, Louise, even though he is allergic to her. Louise will make your doctor a homemade pie if you would like her to. PHOTO: We couldn't do a cake on Sebastian's birthday, but that didn't stop him from tossing around the contents of a big bowl of popcorn! He now tries to eat it when we play with popcorn, so no more of that game.... :(
You know how I look at it (probably the wrong way)...? I don't go 10-12 hours without eating or drinking, so I don't expect Sebastian to, either. Don't doctors think about it this way?? Congrats on your future model-brainiac!!! EIGHT earinfections, though? That is horrible. Poor kid!!!

So glad she is doing well with the med wean. I don't know how I am going to get rid of the bottle. E is not like other kids.....she doesn't drink 6-8 oz bottles so it's not like I can just start dropping them, she won't get enough formula (don't have the green light to drop elecare yet). I guess I need to push it more in the cup! Sorry about the ear infections.....they can affect speech so much, let alone the pain!

Mom (Danie) to Adam (9-4-03) & Nate (3-7-07) Nate was diagnosed with silent AR at 2 months old. He was on neocate, prevacid 30mg per day and couldn't start solids till he was almost 8 months old. He started cow's milk at 14 months and is currently off all meds!! So far so good :) PIC: Disney trip 2008. Nate didn't know Piglet was there, he didn't like the characters too much.
WOW...great news about the weight and height!! When I look back (not too long ago, lol), pulling the night time bottle was NOT as bad as I thought. I still give it to him in a sippy, while rocking him and letting him play with my hair :) I won't ever cut that (till he doesn't want to) Sorry about her poor ears...Nate has had about 7. I will be going to an ENT if he gets another. Thanks for the update!!
