Katie's Ears
Well we just got back from the pedi office and of course they still see nothing wrong with her ears. She screams bloody murder when they take her temperature with the ear thing and I had to hold her down so that they could look in her ears and she has days like yesterday where she won't suck a bottle but they tell me there isn't anything wrong with them. I told the dr. that we have to have more blood drawn because her blood count was off and that yesterday she slept for almost 19 hours and while awake was crying literally all day. They tried to use this thrombosis machine and the tech couldn't do it after three tries because K wouldn't let them near her ears so just gave up and told the dr. it can't be done. I told the dr. I do believe it's her ears as it seems to fit perfectly and was given a referral to the ENT for tomorrow. It wasn't her usual pedi but I've seen this one before for her ears and was told the same thing; they are clear. When I tell them her symptoms they all agree completely that it is her ears but then because they don't see anything it can't possibly be her ears. What the heck??!! They try to pass it off on her reflux but on bad reflux days she won't eat anything and yesterday she would eat solids like a champ but only a few ounces of formula. Katie used to love going to the dr. as it was a change of pace now she cries the minute she gets in that room; do they have that kind of memory?

My mom put Katies picture on my signature for me and when she saw my post she thought there was a problem because it wasn't updating and showing as me so she post the above message without knowing that the person that responds is the one listed under the update column. She is usually a self taught genius in matters of the computer! LOL!!!

Mom (Danie) to Adam (9-4-03) & Nate (3-7-07) Nate was diagnosed with silent AR at 2 months old. He was on neocate, prevacid 30mg per day and couldn't start solids till he was almost 8 months old. He started cow's milk at 14 months and is currently off all meds!! So far so good :) PIC: Disney trip 2008. Nate didn't know Piglet was there, he didn't like the characters too much.
That is so frustrating. All I can add is that once I took Nate in for what I thought was an ear infection. They said the ears were fine. OK...so I wait another day...same symptoms. I call and make another appt...I know they thought I was CRAZY. Guess what...the left ear was indeed infected! The dr apologized but said that if you bring them in too soon, the ears may appear fine. The same thing happened about 2 months later. I would maybe say to give it a day or 2...if your gut STILL says her ears, then maybe take her in again. How old is she again?? Is she about 9 months? Nate got a little afraid of the dr around that age...he is fine with it now tho.

Maggie is now 3 years old and reflux free (knock on wood). I still check in some to see how everybody is doing :) Hugs to all!
I just bet the ent will say there's something there. I just bet....If not then we're all just crazy.

Your name doesn't show up unless you reply. When you post something it doesn't show up. Does that make sense?

Maggie did ok with the drs until they messed with her ears.

I had to explain to my mom that once you reply to someone the name shows up. She was trying for awhile yesterday to get Katie's picture up and we were both having issues. LOL! I have taken her in with what I thought was an ear infection before and one dr. told me that Katie had a cold and was congested but I was not aware of it. WTH!! I said it is either her ears or her throat but she has not been congested for one minute but because we had a crying spell the day before there was dry mucus in her nose NOT interferring with her breathing in any way but the dr. kept insisting that she was plugged up. After arguing with her and asking her to again look in her ears/throat and her saying it was her nose I just said fine and went home and made an appt. with her regular pedi for a few days later as we were in urgent care because she hadn't drank more than 10 oz. in 30 hours. Today was the 4th time they have looked in her ears in the last 3 weeks and no one sees anything but I am so sure that it's her ears! Maggie's Mom and Sebastian's Mom have me convinced!!!

Melissa - Mommy to Sebastian, born 9/28/07 @ 7 lbs 7 oz and 20.75 in. At docs at 12 months: 27 pounds and 32 in! Good grief! GERD - currently on Prevacid suspension (liquid equivalent of 45 mg a day). Allergic to dairy, soy, eggs, wheat, all treenuts, peanuts, fish, shellfish, peas, sesame, bananas, barley, coconut, dust, dust mite, dog, cat, latex. Seasonal allergies. Oral Allergy Syndrome (OAS). Neocate only - no solids - until further notice (drinks and loves water, too). Loves his doggie, our rescued Treeing Walker Coonhound, Louise, even though he is allergic to her. Louise will make your doctor a homemade pie if you would like her to. PHOTO: We couldn't do a cake on Sebastian's birthday, but that didn't stop him from tossing around the contents of a big bowl of popcorn! He now tries to eat it when we play with popcorn, so no more of that game.... :(
Sebastian HATES to have his ears looked at, too...always has. I remember the firs ttime he had an ear infection, he screamed so loud and hard that he popped blood vessels in his eyes AND across his forehead! Poor little Katie...
Check with your
doctor first!
