Quick update on Atalia and Amalia
Sorry I did not post yesterday...thanks for thinking about us! I did not have a chance. Well, I liked Dr. KAiser. HE did not rush me at all, spent at least 1/2 hr answering all my questions, made a thorough evaluation on Atalia (and palpated her tummy and agreeed she was very gassy). Told me that for such a "crappy test" as the upper GI- she must really have a good deal of reflux for it to show it at such a good amount (all the way up to her clavicle at least) on only 1/2 ounce of barium... She did have a better day on Tuesday and Tuesday night- I did not feel like I was poisoning her with formula, muchc almer during and after feedings. Since she started having some better days, and because of good stools, no rashes etc.. MSPI is really not a consideration at this point, and I agree. The white phlegm and congestion..reflux irritating her airways and the body's reaction is to produce white mucus. She weighs 7 pounds already- and that was after a big poop a the Dr's office and empty stomach! She is a little piggy, thank God!. HE said an increase in prevacid can be done when she weighs 8 1/2 pounds and at 11 pounds- the solutab. We are hoping she continues to improve, (last night she seemed to have gas pains again), and the gas he said she should outgrow by 4-5 months of age... He mentioned the CArafate, and saitd the only dowm side is that it ahs to be given 1 hr away from the prevacid to make sure the prevacid absorbs. Made me a little nervous that the next follow up is in 2 months, but they said any problems to call- and I will, plus I will keep a real clsoe eye on ehr weight- I think she is dgoing to be 8 1/2 pounds way before two months from now.. HE mentioned I could add 1-2 tsp of oatmeal to her formula- I will not try to do that since that gave Amalia more gas..plus she is still sooo young, no choking on formula and God willing that will never be a symptom of hers.. Amalia is real cranky with the teething, does not sleep more than 1 hr 15 minutes during the day lately, and is driving daddy crazy at night... but praise God she is used to daddy at night! Gotta go - God Bless all of you!

Mom (Danie) to Adam (9-4-03) & Nate (3-7-07) Nate was diagnosed with silent AR at 2 months old. He was on neocate, prevacid 30mg per day and couldn't start solids till he was almost 8 months old. He started cow's milk at 14 months and is currently off all meds!! So far so good :) PIC: Disney trip 2008. Nate didn't know Piglet was there, he didn't like the characters too much.
I am so glad the appt went well. What a good sign she is gaining weight so well!! I remember the gas with Nate...it was so horrible. I think I was on here posting about it every day :( Sorry about Amalia still having trouble with her teeth...it should soon be over tho. Nate still has a really tuff time with his too. Take care mely...always thinking about you!!

Maggie is now 3 years old and reflux free (knock on wood). I still check in some to see how everybody is doing :) Hugs to all!
That all sounds pretty good. I pray she has a relatively "easy" time. I wish Amalia would get all her teeth already, geez :) That poor girl has an awful time with teeth. Maggie is also used to dh at night, until the last couple weeks. She absolutely insists on me putting her to bed.

Mom (Laura) of 2 girls both with reflux: oldest, Larysa, born 11/14/03 has tons of allergy problems and reflux; youngest, Lauren, born 11/10/06 has Colic/Reflux since 2 1/2 weeks. Tried Zantac, Levsin and Mylanta all were no help. Was adding cereal to formula with every feeding. Tried Soy, Nutramigen and LactoFree formulas those were no help either. Currently on 30 mg of Prevacid / day and Carafate (as needed) 2 ml 4x/day. She is on regluar cow's whole milk and table foods. Picture: Taken 8-24-08.
I'm so glad the appointment went well. We just love Dr. Kaiser. Did he laugh some while in your appointment? The reason I ask is because his laugh to me is contagious, he always makes me smile when I feel so down. Also, did you know that he has done voices on Disney stuff? Just thought you would like to know that neat little fact. Anyway, he is so good and if you ever need to be seen before the scheduled appointment he is really good with that. I say go for the Carafate he prescribed for Lauren and when we have had to use it, it is a life saver. :-) I'm in continual prayer for you all. God bless. - Laura

SO glad your appointment went well. Whatever will life be like when Amalia has all of her teeth???? :) I hope Atalia continues to thrive and that she outgrows any gas pains long before 4-5 months. Most of all, I hope you are able to find a minute or two from time to time to rest....
Check with your
doctor first!
