Mom (Danie) to Adam (9-4-03) & Nate (3-7-07) Nate was diagnosed with silent AR at 2 months old. He was on neocate, prevacid 30mg per day and couldn't start solids till he was almost 8 months old. He started cow's milk at 14 months and is currently off all meds!! So far so good :) PIC: Disney trip 2008. Nate didn't know Piglet was there, he didn't like the characters too much.
Baby Borrowers...OT
Anyone watching this show? I am blown away. I don't think I could ever watch someone else *trying* to take care of my kids. This girl was dragging this lo by his arm to go change his poopy diaper...when she changed him, she DID NOT wipe his bottom!!!

OK...maybe I am crazy but first off, I wouldn't hand my kids off to people who want to EXPERIMENT before having kids...great idea for the kidless couple but seriously guys, I would have ran into that house and drug that girl by her arm, lol. Am I crazy??

Yes, I watched the show...I love reality tv but now we got parents "lending" their babies/toddlers to strangers. They are supervised by a nanny AND the parents are watching them on camera from near by...it just doesn't seem right to me, lol!!!

I've been watching too. I dont' think I would lend my kids to them either. I have missed a lot of shows but it drove me nuts watching them with the babies and they weren't mine. Now a girl is telling a toddler that he is acting like a baby. Hello what is he two? Poor guy he is still a little baby. I hope it works as birth control!!! I would maybe lend my kid to a friend to baby sit to give them a chance at parenthood but not to a stranger. Yikes

Maggie is now 3 years old and reflux free (knock on wood). I still check in some to see how everybody is doing :) Hugs to all!
I didn't see that part, I was late. I felt the same till I found out that a nanny was right there the whole time and the parents were watching.

But oh yeah, if I saw somebody putting their hands on Maggie like that...my hands would be on them! Wasn't the blowout at the end great, lol.

I read the rest of the comments....I think they should have a week when they give them all reflux babies, lol. If that's not bc I don't know what is!!!

Melissa - Mommy to Sebastian, born 9/28/07 @ 7 lbs 7 oz and 20.75 in. At docs at 12 months: 27 pounds and 32 in! Good grief! GERD - currently on Prevacid suspension (liquid equivalent of 45 mg a day). Allergic to dairy, soy, eggs, wheat, all treenuts, peanuts, fish, shellfish, peas, sesame, bananas, barley, coconut, dust, dust mite, dog, cat, latex. Seasonal allergies. Oral Allergy Syndrome (OAS). Neocate only - no solids - until further notice (drinks and loves water, too). Loves his doggie, our rescued Treeing Walker Coonhound, Louise, even though he is allergic to her. Louise will make your doctor a homemade pie if you would like her to. PHOTO: We couldn't do a cake on Sebastian's birthday, but that didn't stop him from tossing around the contents of a big bowl of popcorn! He now tries to eat it when we play with popcorn, so no more of that game.... :(
I'd actually like to hand my child off to the ER doctors who said he is big and therefore fine (Did I mention I heard one say, "He's not sick enough to have real reflux."). I'm pretty sure after a night or two they'd change their tunes.

i'm a reality tv junkie myself. but, i watched about 5 minutes of this and turned away. i'd never let someone take my baby-never! those parents are insane! btw, that was the part i tuned into too-the diaper part. NASTY

DS #1 (7/05) - Just ReDX'd Refluxer! Prevacid Solutab starting 4/8/09. Lots of food and environmental allergies. Autism, Sensory Processing Disorder, Speech Delays, Developmental Delays, Severe Muscle Tone Weakness.
DS #2 (1/08) ReDX'd refluxer. Milk and soy allergies with Soy Lecithin allergies. Oat milk drinker, Rice protein powder, DHA, and vitamins added for bulk and needed nutrition. Weak muscle tone, slightly developmentally delayed, SPD confirmed.
I couldn't do it. First, I fear my child would be abused due to their SID issues. A nanny is great, but it takes a mere second to hit, throw or shake a child, thus leading to serious injury. However, I have two special needs kids and these people don't. Even with a completely regular needs child I wouldn't do it. I just can't see giving my children over to them and hoping they use care, love, support and so on to take care of my child.

Kathryn, Pager Volunteer and mommy to Emily Mia 02/04/07. 3 years old with GERD. 30mg Prevacid and Pepcid AC. Mylanta needed for flares. Failed prilosec med switch. Tried and failed many med weans but GERD and pain are well controlled. Functional constipation. Reoccurring SBBO. Suspected IBD or autoimmune disease. Resolved issues: MSPI, CSID (acquired), Stage 2 kidney reflux, Chronic diarrhea.
Audrey Meadow 06/20/08. born 34/35 weeks. Still b/f and eats everything! ftt and chronic constipation.
you know, this show actually makes me feel better about myself! i am not too much older then the kids on there (about 4 years older) but i had no prior baby experience. i knew taking care of a baby, when i found out i was pregnant, would not be easy, but i wasn't expecting a reflux baby! lol chris and i actually watched it and compared how far we have come on our parenting skills. i never would imagined i would be where i am 17 months ago!

Our 1 year old daughter has silent reflux, hypotonia as well as benign external hydrocephalus. We are currently weaning onto whole milk (we'll see if it works) and she is also on Prevacid 15mg per day.
I'm guilty- I watch it too. But sometimes I have to shut it off. The girl that just dragged the kid off the couch and didn't even wipe him clean and the one that "hated" going to work and didn't want to feed that one baby and she said "fine just starve then!" Oh man I felt bad for the BABIES and TODDLERS as they were the poor guinea pigs in this. They don't have a say in it. Eeks.... But it is validating to see others say "Gosh this is so hard!" THANK YOU! Now some of our dh's can see just what we do all day! :P
Check with your
doctor first!
