Do you think it was the carrots?
Ok, so I decided to try giving Cooper some carrots today. This morning, dh tried to feed him as usual, but he wasn't acting very interested. He thought he just didn't like the carrots, so he tried pears and he wouldn't eat those either. A little later, he tried the carrots again and he almost finished a sz1, but kept turning his head, so I told dh to forget it. He usually eats 3 sz2s or the equivalent in sz1s, just depends, so this was defiantly out of the ordinary. I thought maybe he just wasn't feeling well. MIL watched him this evening while dh was at work b/c I still feel pretty icky. She fed him 1/2 a jar of carrots and some applesauce. I would not have given him carrots again, and certainly not in the evening, but she didn't know and knew we had started them, so figured it would be ok. Then, I struggled to get him to sleep. I put him in his crib asleep, and as soon as he laid flat, he woke up. Not really normal these days. Then while I was rocking him back to sleep I heard him reflux hard 3x. His eyes started to water, he clenched, and sucked his paci really hard. Then, when I laid him back in his crib, he woke up and started coughing. I had walked off already, so I'm not sure if he was coughing on reflux or what. Anywho, I'm just wondering if you think this sudden onset of symptoms could be the carrots or if he maybe is just sick. His eating was not normal and I was sick all last week, so maybe that's it. Should I give carrots another try? What are you guys' experience w/ carrots and reflux? They seem so mild to me.

I have never had this experience with carrots but I have with applesauce. It is an acidic food and can cause some refluxing. With Bradden he had ate it several times then had an issue with it for about a month then he was fine again. Maybe it just reacted b/c his reflux was at a peak. I know when it settled back down he tolerated applesauce again. Like I said I am not sure how strong carrots are so they too could have caused it.

The only way to possibly know is waiting until he settles back down and then re introducing them along several days apart. JMO

Jedd did really bad on carrots. We still really try not to give them to him. they even gave him a diaper rash. The only food to do so.

Coyle Eagan. One Year Old. Doing well on Cow's Milk flavored with juice :) Drinking two bottles of Go&Grow daily. Eating solids better but still have rough days. No More Silent Reflux-that I can hear anyway.. but puking again. Zantac 2ML 2X daily.
carrots have not been good for us. however, if he's teething it could cause him to refuse solids as well. 3 SZ2!!! in one sitting? tell me how! i can't get coy to take more than 1/2 jar of sz1. maybe i need to cut back on the formula

He really loves to eat. And he eats 3 jars at 3 different times, am, noon, and pm. Never more than a sz2 at once.

Used Zantac - 1.0 ml twice a day
Weaned at 1 year
Back on Zantac at 15 months
Carrots are constipating. Maybe they cause everything to back up? We eat them, but only in small amounts.

Maggie is now 3 years old and reflux free (knock on wood). I still check in some to see how everybody is doing :) Hugs to all!
Maggie didn't do well with carrots. I tried them once and swore she'd never get them again. Now that she's reflux free she does fine with them. I bet it was the carrots.

Seamus was born 7/6/07, one month early with Silent Reflux. Zantac since 3 weeks old, currently taking herbs and probiotics.
I have heard of many negative reports regarding carrots in the bellies of our sensitive GI babies. I think that they have alot of fiber/roughage and it may aggravate them. Seamus had them once and he writhed around quite a bit. I am avoiding carrots for awhile.
