Can she be intolerant to soy & not dairy?
I know I should know this but here is what is going on. We increased the soy to formula ratio for Aubrey and it was 1/2 and 1/2. Starting Wed evening she threw up every evening. Like she would do with prevacid or jarred foods-just once a day but it is a doozy (not that I am complaining). So we pulled her off soy and formula for 2 days and did pedilyte. She was fine. Today back on soy and formula-would not nap fussy all day, only happy in the ergo, did not eat dinner. Then BAM projectile vomit again. Now I will say she fussed a couple of times in her sleep last night, but she was still asleep. When she throws up it is a yellow tinge-like the color of soy milk. Can she possibly be intolerant to the soy and hopefully dairy would be fine??? Not that I am planning on trying dairy anytime soon. UGH! Exactly why I did not want another baby...

Melissa - Mommy to Sebastian, born 9/28/07 @ 7 lbs 7 oz and 20.75 in. At docs at 12 months: 27 pounds and 32 in! Good grief! GERD - currently on Prevacid suspension (liquid equivalent of 45 mg a day). Allergic to dairy, soy, eggs, wheat, all treenuts, peanuts, fish, shellfish, peas, sesame, bananas, barley, coconut, dust, dust mite, dog, cat, latex. Seasonal allergies. Oral Allergy Syndrome (OAS). Neocate only - no solids - until further notice (drinks and loves water, too). Loves his doggie, our rescued Treeing Walker Coonhound, Louise, even though he is allergic to her. Louise will make your doctor a homemade pie if you would like her to. PHOTO: We couldn't do a cake on Sebastian's birthday, but that didn't stop him from tossing around the contents of a big bowl of popcorn! He now tries to eat it when we play with popcorn, so no more of that game.... :(
I am no allergist, but I would say definitely. They are totally different foods. I have a friend who is allergic to soy sauce and tofu but drinks milk like a champ.

Rice Milk
First off I must tell you how ADORABLE Aubrey is...just a cutie pie! How old is she? I have had my daughter (18mos old) on rice milk since one year and she tolerates it better than milk and soy (Both of my children are 'sensitive or intolerant of both dairy and soy)....I have them both on rice milk, fortied, blended with a nutrition/vitamin/mineral powdered mixture our naturalpath gave me, with a teaspoon of flaxseed oil for fat (which rice milk lacks in)...and they tolerate it much better. I'd get her off the soy, sounds like a terrible reaction....contact a local naturalpath, ours has been amazing!

This is our dd, Alessandra. Dx with GER 10/07. Ran the gamut with meds and now done with them (crossed fingers). Using magnesium, probiotics and prebiotic supplements. With the exception of teething and general sassy attitude, all is well now. They really CAN grow out of it!
I echo the rice milk trial with supplementation. I have a friend whose son could not seem to tolerate milk or soy (no allergy to either since they don't bother him as one of many ingredients - just a sensitive system) and he's doing great on the rice milk.

We have had her allergy tested for both and they were negative. That is interesting Slimfast 13. I am glad to see there are others out there that way./ Something to ask the GI about.

Yes I have to say too she is so pretty. Her little blonde hair, dark eyes, and complexion. You are going to be in real trouble.

Jenn remember not all babies are alike. Yes the twins do have reflux but it is so mild. We controlled it without medicine until they just got pneumonia. There is hope and I will pray the entire time for an easy healthy baby for you.

I know that Bradden can not drink soy milk at all. As quick as he does he has diarrhea instantly. I have also noticed that when I tried peas with him the other night he only ate a handful and he had diarrhea until morning. I haven't introduced any dairy or soy since our trial at 18 mths. I will check with the GI at 20 mths to see if he wants me to go ahead with another weaning. He is tolerating Alimentum though so that is a step.

A friend at church has a lo that is intolerant and allergic to soy but after a year could tolerate dairy products. Prayfully this will be your case too.

I have read online that peas has soy in them. I have read somewhere else that they didn't. Do you know the answer. I dont want to give him anything to flare up with him sick. He is already miserable enough. Also is the pretzel Aubrey has just a normal one or is it special. He would love those if he can have them. Any more finger foods you can pass along I would love. Braddy is picking right now and I am trying to introduce new things he may like. Thanks Jenn.

PS: As babies girls are so much easier at least in my case but as teens boys seem to be the angels. Girls have the mouth around 10 or so and my nephews who are Kaitlyn's age have no mouth at all. I think it is her hormones raging. Thankfully though out of the 6 I only have 1 more girl to deal with. LOL

Elyse started tolerating some dairy before she could tolerate soy. We continued to see projectile vomiting when given ANY type of soy while she did okay with some cheese, etc.
