Ceramom, mom2coy; weight/heightOk, so I got sick and never responded to the earlier post about the weight/height issue. Cooper is now almost 15lbs and is 27in. Sarah, do you think this could just be his build. Dh is very tall and thin. And we were all little babies in my family, usually 18lbs at 1yr, though we weren't as tall. he is seemingly healthy these days, and he doesn't seem tiny any more. I think I will see how he does and ask about this at his Pulmo appt in Sept. Unless we have an issue before then. I'm not sure what to do except for maybe adding another feeding. He nurses on demand, which is pretty often, at least every 2 hrs. And I have a good supply.
Mom2coy, did you read my reply about cp to your post about a week ago. How are things in that area. Coy seems to be doing pretty well developmentally. How old is he now? I know he is adjusted too, how much? It is so hard sometimes, but for Cooper he one day just started to thrive and bloom. The chiro played a huge part in this.

Tracey, mom to Katie diagnosed with GERD at 3 week.
|Hi Mollybeth, what was the chiropractor able to do for Cooper? I am a little concerned that Katie is not even attempting to crawl although the GI isn't concerned and had wondered if a chiro could help. It took her a really long time to learn to sit on her own and now she shows no indication of crawling anytime soon.|

Coyle Eagan. One Year Old. Doing well on Cow's Milk flavored with juice :) Drinking two bottles of Go&Grow daily. Eating solids better but still have rough days. No More Silent Reflux-that I can hear anyway.. but puking again. Zantac 2ML 2X daily.
|Hey there. I'm sorry you got really ill. I hope you are feeling better!
Coyle and Cooper are about the same size. I think he is around 15 1/2 pounds and 27 inches long too and he is 9 mo. adjusted... so 3 mo. older than Cooper. so, if any kid is tiny it is mine-not yours! anyway, that puts them @ about 3% for height/weight. coyle was 50% @ 2 mo so i'm not sure if it means anything or not. We've exhausted pretty much all testing except endocrinology (which my pedi advised against since he is still "growing") and CF. He has not had any scopes or anything. He will be patch tested for allergies this Thur (nervous because have to remove the zantac) and then we see GI again in 2 weeeks. might ask for a scope now since Coy and Sebastian have similiar symptoms and his scope showed a lot according to Melissa.
We are all small on my side (tho not small babies and i am by no means thin-just short) and my husband is adopted so his genes are unknown. however, DH could eat 3 horses and not gain an ounce. seriously. He is trim and fit-just like Coy. coyle also has not lost any fat (the little he's ever had) and has a clean bill of health from the Cardiologist. So, the doc and I will monitor him until 1 yr and see what happens. many studies also show that 2-yr catch up growth for preemies is not all encompassing-that being said-he can take until the age of 6 (or even 12-18) to catch up. my DH, 5 lbs @ birth, had a growth spurt at 21! so, i'm hoping that it is just genetics but am always staying upon all his docs to monitor him.
btw. the relflux does not help w/growth nor does teething (he has 6 and 2 more on the way!!) he drinks alimentum and definitely takes in less than the "recommended" caloric intake. solids are still a struggle as many aggravate his reflux. when teething, he refuses everything-including his bottle sometimes. and he barely ate for 2 weeks while he had a cold.
developmentally he is doing okay. crawls faster than a rabbit; trying to pull up; finally feeding himself with his pincer-on occasion. we saw a neurologist who diagnosed him with hypertonia (high muscle tone) but will not diagnose CP until later-if at all. its funny cause when we go to these doctor appts. my husband will say "oh, my ankles were tight too when i was little" duh! this info would have been helpful before, right? so, we start PT in a couple of weeks.
i'm gonna ask PT about a Chiro as well. My mom has a great one down by her and if it won't interfere with his PT then i'll be taking him there probably after he turns 1.
thanks for responding!

Jessica, Mommy to Jedd, severe reflux, severe food and oral aversions, Finally G tube free!!! VSD repair 4-24-07 (open heart surgery), hypospadias, repaired 3 times and Ear tubes Visit Jedd at his CB site: www.caringbridge.org/visit/jedd
|I nkow with Jedd we were always more concerned about whether or not Jedd was following HIS percitile fo rweight and height. form birth forward.|
So yes, he spent LOTS of time right aroud the 5% tile line and sometimes a tad lower he kept growing at that %tiel for a long time.
After his heart reapir was the only time we saw him "jump tracks" so to speak. Where he was gaining in %tiles.
He did that for a bit and then leveled off and is now following his %tiel again.
I hope this hleps you understand it a bit more. It hleps to add in the factor of "well my family is on the tiny slim side of things"....LOL
