Kathryn, Pager Volunteer and mommy to Emily Mia 02/04/07. 3 years old with GERD. 30mg Prevacid and Pepcid AC. Mylanta needed for flares. Failed prilosec med switch. Tried and failed many med weans but GERD and pain are well controlled. Functional constipation. Reoccurring SBBO. Suspected IBD or autoimmune disease. Resolved issues: MSPI, CSID (acquired), Stage 2 kidney reflux, Chronic diarrhea.
Audrey Meadow 06/20/08. born 34/35 weeks. Still b/f and eats everything! ftt and chronic constipation.
last couple daysif i have to change one more poop diaper i swear!!!!! between emi and little A it's insane... Emi was up most of the night last night her tummy was not doing well. she had a mysterious fever of 102 that came for a day then left with no consequences. it is really doubtful she has an ear infection and she is not teething.
emily is still having horrible mucous diapers. the GI wants another series of stool samples done - which i am NOT happy about, it's probably going to show nothing , again. They also want her to see her pedi, after he rules out everything (ears, throat, ect) they want a series of small and large bowel studies done. They said they have to rule out bacterial or viral infection, hence the stool studies, before they can proceed with that. They are thinking she might have IBS or IBD. both can cause mucous in stool and in IBD it can cause blood on and off, which she has had before.... it's all a little over whelming...
on the plus side little A has not puked since my last post (a week??) the pedi thinks it was from her being jaundiceie. she refluxes only when she is having a bowel movement- which is actually pretty horrible to watch, her face gets all red and she screeches; it's the only time she "cries". She sleeps long hour stints and is on a good eating schedule now. it is so crazy to nurse a baby that is not arching, squirming and fighting the breast, i still go into nursing in defensive mode but quickly realize, she is not emily and wants to eat.
having audrey has really helped me put into perspective a lot of what i lost with emily. i classified pretty much all of emily's early months as bad- b/c they were. but in doing so i had totally blanked out a lot the good little moments we had in between. Little things like certain expressions or movements or cuddle times that were not related to pain or all nighters... i think if i had not had little A all those little memories would have been lost. things are looking good so far for audrey i still pray everyday she will not become as sick as emily did, for her not really for me.

Donnessa, mom to Halley born 3/10/07
Reflux (mostly) resolved at 14 months
and Addison born 8/17/09. Currently exclusively bf and on 7.5mg Prevacid
Poor Emi!!! I hope that they are able to get to the bottom of it (no pun intended). If it ends up being IBD, are there meds that can help with the symptoms?
I'm so incredibly happy to hear that Audrey is puke-free this week! I hope that it continues and she's the "easy" baby you hoped for. What you wrote about the good moments was really touching :-)

So glad things are going well other then all the poopy diapers. I think everyone should have the benefit of a second child because it really does put your first child in perspective. You really learn to appreciate the differences good and bad. I am glad the bf is going good this time. Keep us posted on Emi when they decide if she needs more tests. I hope you get some answers for her soon.

Goodness, i'm so sorry. Cooper had horrible mucus diapers his whole life. And like 10 a day. We had so many stool samples/cultures and they all were fine. I bet I was told 100x he just goes alot, or maybe it's a bug. Well as soon as I did the elimination diet, it stopped. He has normal diapers now, firm stools, usually 1or 2 a day. I know she has the soy intolerance and the csid, but maybe there is something else you haven't caught yet. don't know but the diet changed our life. Could you try it with her? HTH

Kat first Praise God Audrey is doing so well. I hope Emi does feel better soon and they find out what truly causes her flare ups. Once you have answers you can form a plan but until you know you're lost.
As for the memories I suffered from that too. The boys would just barely sneeze and I would cringe thinking there is a sign. I was always on pins and needles thinking they were going to choke like Bradden did. Yes unfairly they do have reflux but it is non existant compared to what I faced only a yr ago. They are temporarily on Zantac but on the 13th I am suppose to try to start weaning. I pray they have out grown it. If not the Lord has a plan.
I am thinking and praying for you guys. She is so pretty too.

Mom (Danie) to Adam (9-4-03) & Nate (3-7-07) Nate was diagnosed with silent AR at 2 months old. He was on neocate, prevacid 30mg per day and couldn't start solids till he was almost 8 months old. He started cow's milk at 14 months and is currently off all meds!! So far so good :) PIC: Disney trip 2008. Nate didn't know Piglet was there, he didn't like the characters too much.
I am so sad to hear about Emi and her tummy issues...I certainly hope they can get to the bottom of it FAST!!! Reading what you wrote about Audrey made me get chills...I am SOOO happy the nursing is going good...and that she is not showing too many signs of reflux!! Thanks for the update :)

|I am so jealous that your GI doctor is so much more proactive than Quinn's GI doctor. So glad that she is being that way though so you can get to the bottom of all of this!!! I'm very sorry that Emi is going through so many poops again. For once, Quinn is actually having very normal poops!!! Probably won't last for more than 12 hours though and then back to diarrhea again. I'm really happy that Audrey is doing so well. :) -Sarah||Check with your
