Chalk up pneumonia as a culprit to flare ups.....
That's right... After doing so well for 6 mths with no medications the babies journey now includes Zantac. They started running a fever last Thursday. They weren't improving just getting worse so yesterday (Monday) I took them in.

Prestyn's ear is still infected. It has been infected now for 13 days. He was first put on Amoxicillin then Augmentin when it wasn't getting better. Along with the ear infection now he also has pneumonia. The doctor put him on Zithromax and Albuteral syrup. Luckily I don't have to do the Neb treatments but the Albuteral is what causes their reflux to flare up. After the first dose here they both started vomiting up acid. He put them on the Zantac yesterday evening and it seems to help some. If not drastically improved by tomorrow he is going with Prilosec.

Avary has an eye infection and pneumonia. He is a lot worse than Prestyn. It has affected his eating, sleeping, everything. He is a sick little baby. He is wheezing constantly and theows up every bottle. He is on the verge of dehydration so I have started pedilyte. I have to do a follow up tomorrow for them. He is on the same medicine as Prestyn. I will keep you updated. Oh how I pray the medicine issue and the flare up is only related to the sickness like we think and not long term..... The road that these babies on here have to travel!!!!!!

Maggie is now 3 years old and reflux free (knock on wood). I still check in some to see how everybody is doing :) Hugs to all!
Well, I'm sure you're not totally surprised by this. I hope it's not long-term, but I wouldn't bank on it. Hope they feel better.

Oh no! I am so so sorry! Neb treatments aren't fun but they might be easier on the reflux than oral albuterol. I hope they are 100% soon.

Mom (Danie) to Adam (9-4-03) & Nate (3-7-07) Nate was diagnosed with silent AR at 2 months old. He was on neocate, prevacid 30mg per day and couldn't start solids till he was almost 8 months old. He started cow's milk at 14 months and is currently off all meds!! So far so good :) PIC: Disney trip 2008. Nate didn't know Piglet was there, he didn't like the characters too much.
I am so sorry to hear this. I hope you can control this so they can remain at home...please let us know!!!

PHOTO: We couldn't do a cake on Sebastian's birthday, but that didn't stop him from tossing around the contents of a big bowl of popcorn! He now tries to eat it when we play with popcorn, so no more of that game.... :(
UUGGGHHHH. I am SO sorry. I hope everyone gets healthy ASAP. I feel for you and the little ones. It seems so unfair.

Goodness, I am so sorry. I can't imagine how awful that must be for them. We have never had luck w/ zantac, so don't get discouraged if it doesn't work. I got really frustrated with the whole med situation, but we eventually figured out what works best.
Check with your
doctor first!
