sorry
I was wondering if they prescrib drops for babies. I have a call in to the doc but i thought I'd ask you all first. Nolan has a red, watery, itchy eye. He has had it since Sat. afternoon. I feel like I am always having something with him. UGH! I hope they can just prescrib something and we don't have to go in. I don't have a dc sub today. I'd hate close for this.

Kelly, mom of two boys with GERD. John (born 11/03) was on 40mg Nexium til 15 mos old. Second son Brian (born 05/07) started on Zantac. Now on 22.5 mg Prevacid Solutabs plus Carafate 0.5 ml 1 x day
My 4 yr old just had pink eye and it is going through our neighborhood. We had to bring him in to get diagnosed and then they gave us eyedrops that cleared it up within 24 hours but we kept giving him the drops for a few days. I think they would use drops for babies as well. Maybe they will prescribe over the phone but for us we had to bring him in. Good luck!

NOt all pink eye needs an RX drops. I had pink eyey went to the dr. for it. and I exoalined to her that it loked much better at the appt. then it did the night before. She said there are 2 types of pink eyey one is viral the other is bacterial. The viral one passes without an RX and the bacterial one needs an RX to get it to go away.

I would try 24 hours of washing his face with soapy water. If it clears up, he had the viral one. That's what I did. I didn't need to fill my RX it went away within the 24 hour period.

Good luck..

BTW they do the RX for ALL pink eye they don't even test to see which one it is....isn't that interesting????

That's interesting Jessica... wish I would have known that. The drops they gave me for Melina were seriously expensive. I wonder if it would have gone away on its own.....

From what I understand no matter what kind of pink eye it is the drops just help with the itchy, icky feeling. Trust me we (ds and I) get pink eye at least 2x's a year...ugh. We use th drops mainly to help relieve the symptoms. Severe allergies can cause pink eye-that is what we get. Just be sure to wash sheets daily in hot water...i am sure you know the drill.

Thanks everyone. They called back. They were able to prescrib the drops over the phone. I didn't want to take the chance and go w/o drops with daycare. Hopefully we won't have an out break here:(

Jennifer~ I do agree that the drops helps no matter if it is bactieral or viral. The itching is so annoying.

Mom (Danie) to Adam (9-4-03) & Nate (3-7-07) Nate was diagnosed with silent AR at 2 months old. He was on neocate, prevacid 30mg per day and couldn't start solids till he was almost 8 months old. He started cow's milk at 14 months and is currently off all meds!! So far so good :) PIC: Disney trip 2008. Nate didn't know Piglet was there, he didn't like the characters too much.
With both of my boys, they just gave us the rx for the drops over the phone...contageous or not...I don't think they want us to drag our kiddos in a waiting room full of kids just having their well checks :) Let us know what they say...hopefully you can start the drops asap!!
Check with your
doctor first!
