Mom (Danie) to Adam (9-4-03) & Nate (3-7-07) Nate was diagnosed with silent AR at 2 months old. He was on neocate, prevacid 30mg per day and couldn't start solids till he was almost 8 months old. He started cow's milk at 14 months and is currently off all meds!! So far so good :) PIC: Disney trip 2008. Nate didn't know Piglet was there, he didn't like the characters too much.
Update on Nate's fever...
Well, good thing for the "gut feeling". DH is the one who gets a pat on the back this time. We took him to Immediate Care (dh's idea) and they did the strep test...POSITIVE!! Where did he get this. They are home with school and we haven't been around any kids at all. At least we went at 8pm instead of being up all night. He is on omnicef for 10 days.

Thanks for your response to my original post. I thank God that his ears were GREAT and no breathing issues at all. Oh more thing...he kept moving his tongue around in his mouth. I was CONVINCED he was just teething. I thought he was "exploring" his new teeth. The dr said that is common for babies to do that with a sore throat...that's a new one for me.

seamus' mama
Seamus was born 7/6/07, one month early with Silent Reflux. Zantac since 3 weeks old, currently taking herbs and probiotics.
I'm glad you got to the bottom of it! I used to get strep throat all the time and my herbalist gave me a throat spray which has Propolis in it..(Bees make propolis and it is anti bacterial/antiviral) It is totally safe to use with kids and it helps attack the strep in conjunction with the mes. if you have a natural foods store nearby, it may be worth a try... Good luck! I'll be sending good wishes your way for a speedy recovery.

Oddly enough, our ped has us use Maalox with sore throats since it coats/soothes. It does help a lot. Anyway, I hate that it was strep, but I am glad y'all brought him on in. Donnie had strep about a month ago. DH and I are so germaphobic that we don't even put Donnie in shopping carts or anything that is in public use. Well I am glad that it isn't his ears and I hope that he gets well quickly! Thanks for the update!!! TTYL, Liz

Our 1 year old daughter has silent reflux, hypotonia as well as benign external hydrocephalus. We are currently weaning onto whole milk (we'll see if it works) and she is also on Prevacid 15mg per day.
OH man that stinks! I had strep twice as a kid and I felt awful during that. I hope he feels better soon! Keira does that thing w/ her mouth a lot and I thought it was teething and her Pedi said the same about her throat being sore(allergies I guess since she doesn't have strep) but thanks for that reminder! :)

I am so glad you guys took him in last night! Strep is awful, one illness that usually knocks me down pretty good. You should see an improvement on the Omnicef pretty quick too! Who knows where they pick this stuff up, just like Lauren with the cold in June! GRRR!

Poor Nate! I hope he feels better soon! Thats interesting about the tongue movement....I never heard that. It actually makes me feel better about going ahead with the pH probe for Lorenzo, as he is always doing that....hmmm... I hope the strep remains limited to Nate and that he conquers it soon!

Kelly, mom of two boys with GERD. John (born 11/03) was on 40mg Nexium til 15 mos old. Second son Brian (born 05/07) started on Zantac. Now on 22.5 mg Prevacid Solutabs plus Carafate 0.5 ml 1 x day
Both my boys had strep recently...not fun. Sorry you are dealing with it. When I brought John in, I wasn't thinking strep but then the pedi noticed a slight rash around his mouth and she said that is also a sign of strep. Interesting about the tongue thing.
