Melissa - Mommy to Sebastian, born 9/28/07 @ 7 lbs 7 oz and 20.75 in. At docs at 12 months: 27 pounds and 32 in! Good grief! GERD - currently on Prevacid suspension (liquid equivalent of 45 mg a day). Allergic to dairy, soy, eggs, wheat, all treenuts, peanuts, fish, shellfish, peas, sesame, bananas, barley, coconut, dust, dust mite, dog, cat, latex. Seasonal allergies. Oral Allergy Syndrome (OAS). Neocate only - no solids - until further notice (drinks and loves water, too). Loves his doggie, our rescued Treeing Walker Coonhound, Louise, even though he is allergic to her. Louise will make your doctor a homemade pie if you would like her to. PHOTO: We couldn't do a cake on Sebastian's birthday, but that didn't stop him from tossing around the contents of a big bowl of popcorn! He now tries to eat it when we play with popcorn, so no more of that game.... :(
Hi ladies! Thanks for asking. Things went as well as they could have today. We almost cancelled because Sebastian had his worst night in months (screamed all night, pulled ears all night, refused food at midnight). I talked to the GI doing the test this a.m. before we even went to the hospital, and she said to bring him in. We got there at 9. He didn't go in until 1:30. He still has eaten nothing but Pedialyte since last night at 6 p.m....but at least he is sleeping peacefully in his crib now.

I got pretty emotional when I held his hand while they put him under. It was AWFUL...lots of thrashing and screaming, eyes rolling back in his head, etc. They finished up way early, and I again felt terrible because my parents and husband had dragged me down to the cafeteria to eat since I was a nervous wreck...and I was seven floors away when they called ot say he was done and up. And they had to add, "Hear him screaming in the background?" I ran up there and he was hysterical. They gave him some narcotic before I got there because they said his actions were because of the anesthesia, but I think it is because he fell asleep (in a horrible way) one place and woke up in another, hooked up to tubes with a bunch of strange people milling around anfd poking and prodding him. He calmed down and went to sleep AS SOON AS he was in my arms.

Now he's sleeping in his crib and it is 5:15 p.m., so no 6:30 p.m. bedtime for us. This is a weird night for all. I will be on his floor all night so I can check on him every five seconds.

We get our results in a week, and I will definitely keep everyone posted. THANKS FOR THINKING OF US! Better go put my hand on his chest again. More reading of the posts later on...

Hey, thanks for thinking of us.

Melissa, I'm sorry your little guy had a pretty upsetting time. :( That must have been terrible. I'm glad he is sleeping peacefully now.

Rory, on the other hand, did really well. The nurses said they wished all their patients were as good as her. She went in at 8:30am and was up and back with us at 9:30. She took a couple sips of water, and we were able to leave. They weighed her before she went in because they said it would be her true weight on an empty belly. 18lbs on the nose. lol. Anyway, the GI came out to speak with us and said there was NO obvious damage. YAY!! I'm sort of surprised, but definitely relieved!!! We'll get the biopsy results in a few weeks. I'm starting to warm to the idea that she is just a crappy eater with reflux who'll outgrow it eventually. I hope so, anyway. Thanks again for thinking of us. I have company, and I'm exhausted from not sleeping last night, so I'll catch up on posts tomorrow. Hugs.

Glad to hear Rory did so well! Yay! I wish our hospital had been a little more efficient. But geez - they are making you wait a whole couple of weeks?? I was miserable at the prospect of having to wait until next Friday. I guess I shouldn't complain. One positive thing is that after they nurses woke Bassy up to leave recovery, he smiled and flirted.

yes, I think Verdayne (Shannon) had a procedure today too...

Melissa, I am so sorry that you had to go through that today! My friend's son had tubes put in and he wouldn't go back to the surgery room with out her husband. She said when her dh came out he was falling apart from watching their 4 year old go under. I can only imagine how hard it had to be. Hopefully, he's good and tired out from not sleeping last night and all the excitement today that he'll sleep straight through tonight without a peep.

Michelle, I am so happy to hear that there was not any damage! YIPEE! I hope things go well with your company and that you get some good rest tonight too!

Thanks for the updates ladies ;)

Our 1 year old daughter has silent reflux, hypotonia as well as benign external hydrocephalus. We are currently weaning onto whole milk (we'll see if it works) and she is also on Prevacid 15mg per day.
Michelle-I'm glad things went smoothly for Rory! :) Melissa-I can only imagine the stress you've been through! I replay that scenerio in my head for if Keira has to have brain surgery and I can't hardly stomach it. You're a strong woman!!! :) It's hard enough when she has her CT scans as they have to strap her down and put her in that machine and it's super cold and noisy and she's scared. Anyways-how did he sleep last night? I'm anxious to hear the results when you get them! HUGS!!!

Seamus was born 7/6/07, one month early with Silent Reflux. Zantac since 3 weeks old, currently taking herbs and probiotics.
WOW ladies, it sounds like you have made it through some madness. I'm so sorry that things were rough for Bassy. At least its over, he's slept a bit, and the next thing you know a week will have gone by for results. I can't imagine seeing my son go under. Now that you've seen that he comes out of it physically allright maybe it will be easier next time. Ughh. I hope you mamas get some well deserved sleep and some answers!!!!
Check with your
