Another question you guys...
I know Prevacid has to be given 2 hrs apart from mylanta/milk of mag. How about milk of mag and zantac? Atalia was put on milk of mag today because she has not had a bm in 7 days...she is currently breast and formula fed. Our GI is not a fan of suppositories so she wants us to try the milk of mag- but I think I am trying a suppository tomorrow if I don't see a bm by then. She is passing gas and clearly uncomfortable. Thanks for your time and i hope in the near fututre I can get back on also to reply. Thanks for everyone's replies to my posts- I really aprreciate them!

Maggie is now 3 years old and reflux free (knock on wood). I still check in some to see how everybody is doing :) Hugs to all!
I don't know. I'll see what I can find but I remember Mags going 9 days a time or two. It wasn't fun, but they said it was normal for bfed babies. I don't know about when they're doing both. Hugs!

Oral antacids and some aluminum, calcium, and magnesium salts may decrease oral H2 blocker plasma concentrations. The mechanism may be related to reduced gastric absorption and bioavailability due to acid-neutralizing effects. Data vary and the clinical significance has not been clearly established. It is recommended that H2 blocker be administered one to two hours before one of these preparations

I'm proud of myself, lol.

Kathryn, Pager Volunteer and mommy to Emily Mia 02/04/07. 3 years old with GERD. 30mg Prevacid and Pepcid AC. Mylanta needed for flares. Failed prilosec med switch. Tried and failed many med weans but GERD and pain are well controlled. Functional constipation. Reoccurring SBBO. Suspected IBD or autoimmune disease. Resolved issues: MSPI, CSID (acquired), Stage 2 kidney reflux, Chronic diarrhea.
Audrey Meadow 06/20/08. born 34/35 weeks. Still b/f and eats everything! ftt and chronic constipation.
same deal w/ zantac, 1- 2 hours apart. You could probably go closer to 1 hour apart b/c their systems are so quick but if she is slow and backed up you might want to wait 2 hours the first couple of days.

m.o.m. has an antacid in it or just has antacid properties (can't remember which) but it coats everything and will not allow pretty much all meds to be absorbed. hopefully the m.o.m. will help w the gas too. i know it helped out emi a great deal when she was on it.

i hope everything went alright today, she was getting a upper GI? my memory's a blur, i am so sorry atalia is in so much pain :(

btw how do you pronounce her name "ata-lea" or "ah-tal-e-ah" (sorry my phonics are atrocious lol) or something diff? it sounds so pretty either way.

Thanks for asking. I THINK I can see an improvement. It's hard to know if it's just me having a placebo reaction, lol. She has been reading a lot more than normal and not as mouthy! That's wonderful! We've had a lot less issues. Hopefully something is working.

I just wanted to quick add that not having bm's at this age is something to worry about. Bf babies have a ton of bm's in the first few weeks and then they tend to not go very often. Also you have to watch out at this age for jaundice. That can come from having infrequent bms. Because the thing that causes it is passed in bms. This is what my doc told me anyway. So I would really be concerned about that and keep an eye on her color. If her eyes are yellow in the white part I would take her to the doc. She may need to sit under the lights.

I don't know if the post I jsut wrote will be added- it looked like Amalia erased all of it. Just in case, thank you so much everyone, good news- Atalia pooped -no meds! -nice soft consistency, dark brown/orange, and is passing tons of gas, sometimes real smelly. Emibug- she had her upper GI same day as her GI appt. The acccent when you say her name is on the "li" and "li" sounds like "le." Your baby girl is beautiful!! Gotta go everyone- thank you sooo much. God Bless!

Glad everything worked out w/o needing meds. FYI... MOM never worked for mine anyway. Miralax was the best when she had that problem. Suppositories ripped up her stomach and seemed to hurt more. :( Only moms could talk this much about poop. LOL.
