Zack born 09/28/07 @ 31 weeks. Dx silent reflux @ 6 mo. Now not so silent. Switched to Elecare @ 9 mo. On Prevacid 15mg 1x daily. Looking to stop the puke and gain some lbs.
Puke stopped about 24 months and he's learning to eat...very slowly.
Still on prevacid and periactin.
New here :(
My son, Zack is 9 mo in a couple days (7 mo adj). He has always been a silent refluxer and has been on 15mg Prevacid once a day for about 3 months. I went form having a baby that had to be force fed all the time to having a happy baby who ate on his own! It was AWESOME! Then last Friday he started puking...he's happy, no fever and ok, but is puking two or three bottles a day. I'm getting really stressed out. It has been five days or so...I noticed this morning that he was scratching at his ear...now I think he has an ear infect. from all this puking. I tried thickening the feeds, but he kept one down and pukes up the other *SIGH* He is going to the Ped today, but have any of you heard of a baby going from silent to LOUD refluxer?? He's a full blown puker now! Grrrr! I'm so tired of doing laundry!

Maggie is now 3 years old and reflux free (knock on wood). I still check in some to see how everybody is doing :) Hugs to all!
Hi and Welcome! My dd wasn't a real puker either but occasionally she did. I guess it can happen. I'll be interested to see what the ped says. Will you let us know?

Mom (Danie) to Adam (9-4-03) & Nate (3-7-07) Nate was diagnosed with silent AR at 2 months old. He was on neocate, prevacid 30mg per day and couldn't start solids till he was almost 8 months old. He started cow's milk at 14 months and is currently off all meds!! So far so good :) PIC: Disney trip 2008. Nate didn't know Piglet was there, he didn't like the characters too much.
Nate was a silent refluxer...except when he had some flare ups. It would last for about 2 weeks and then get back to normal. Nate was on 15mg of prevacid until he was about 4 months old...then they increased it to 30mg per day...we split it between AM and PM. I hope it is just a flare up...teeth coming in maybe?? Hopefully the ped will have some suggestions for you. BTW-welcome to the forum :)

I sincerely hope it is just a virus or ear infect., but there are no other symptoms. He had very little mild diarreah, no fever, and he's happy as a clam 90% of the time. I'll let you all know what we find out!

You might ask the doc about splitting his dose between am and pm. That helps some babies bc they metabolize the meds quickly.

Pedi referred us to a GI. I had a feeling that was coming. They can't see us until the 17th of July...hopefully we will get some answers. Anyway, no ear infection and no answers today. :(

Coyle Eagan. One Year Old. Doing well on Cow's Milk flavored with juice :) Drinking two bottles of Go&Grow daily. Eating solids better but still have rough days. No More Silent Reflux-that I can hear anyway.. but puking again. Zantac 2ML 2X daily.
well, for us mega puking is actually a good sign. silent reflux seems to give my LO wayyy more pain then puking does. when he pukes i know that it is more or less effortless (some puke hurts tho, so dont misunderstand)...it just seems that him holding it in makes it ridiculously painful for him. thats when i give him more meds... otherwise, is the puking painful for him? if he's teething more saliva=more puke.
