Mom of two gerdlings
Anyone had a nissen loosened?
I just posted this question as an addition to my own original 9/15/07 "3 yrs. post-nissen stomach pain" posting, but didn't realize that it wouldn't show as a new post on the main board. Please, if you can offer any information about loosening a nissen, please respond to my 4/8/08 post which is attached to my 9/15/07 post. Sorry for the mess up. Thanks!

You might want to try posting this in the "General Beginner and Infant Forums" as well. It tends to get more traffic. I (personally) have not had experience with loosening a Nissen but some of those parents may be able to help. If you'd like me to help you hunt down the info feel free to e-mail me anytime.

Nissan Fundo loosened
Despite eagarly awaiting my son's first fundo - he was in more pain afterwards than he was before. I was so depressed as what I thought would be a big lifesaver and our saving grace was far from. He had a 360 degree wrap which was then reversed and they did a 270 degree wrap instead. This worked much better. He still has reflux but not as bad - and it is more triggered by foods now rather than the structural difference. This was my second reflux child I might add. The staff at the hospital where the operation was done didn't know a lot about fundos - but we were still there when all the other parents and babies had gone home. They didn't know what to do. It was only because I jumped up and down and insisted something was terribly wrong and forced them to call the surgeon back to check on my son. Luckily he agreed that it wasn't right and it was reversed within a very short timeframe. Good luck! I am only new to this site so I have not been able to find your original post. And my nickname from highschool was loonie - my real name is Leonie and after having 2 reflux babies who are now 9 and 7 I had a big breakdown and felt my nickname truly fitted!
