3 year old vomiting
My daughter hasbeen off of all her meds for quite a while. She still complains tha her belly hurts but we were told to treat on the spot with mylanta. On Monday, 2/12, she began vomiting again. She screams out that her throat hurts and then throws up. Afterward she isfine, no other symptoms. It seems to happen within an hour of eating and only of she lays down to go to bed or take a nap. Am I crazy to think that this is reflux revisited?

It definitely sounds like it to me. My daughter is still on meds, but when I tried to take her off them last week she vomited 3 times and said her tummy hurt. If your daughter's throat hurts it may be burning from the acid? Not really sure, but I would definitely have her checked by your doctor.

Hernia?
It would be a bit odd to develop a hiatal hernia at this age, but the symptoms match. Laying down after meals means the food mushes up into the part of the stomach that is protruding into the chest cavity. One key to observe is whether the food seems highly acidic - what you would expect so long after a meal - or if it looks freshly chewed. It she says it hurts, my guess would be it is highly acidic. Vomiting from a hernia tends to be fairly painless and quite a surprise. Sometimes the food looks fresh. (I worked with an Alzheimers patient who had a hiatal hernia and she would always say that somebody else puked in her bed. Her nursing care was changed so she didn't get naps after lunch and no other treatment was needed.)

doctor visit
We visited the pediatrician today and he has eliminated any type of gastroenteritis or viral illness. He wants us to do a week trial on a medicine called axid to see if there is any relief. He said that he can't comeup with a reason why symptoms would have resurfaced after such a long time period but it's not impossible. It's amazing though, she vomited again yesterday after both lunch and dinner (nap time and bedtime) and right afterward you would never know that anything had happened. She went from crying that her throat hurt back to her normal, happy 3 yr old personality. The food she is vomiting smells very acidic and has alot of undigested pieces even several hours later. I am noticing that she is getting very picky when she eats, she is complaing that she is hungry but after just a couple of bites she says her belly is full and asks to be excused. I have never been one to force my kids to eat so when she is done it's fine. But this is a tremendous drop in her food consumption with the vomiting. So far there is no noticable weight loss she weighed 42 pounds today (boots, sweater, sweats etc). They said it was a 3.5 gain but that is since May 06. I am just getting very overwhelmed.
