medication went kaput???
My son is now 10 months and seems to be getting his symptoms back. We are currently taking Prevacid 15 mg. once in the morning. Is it possible that the meds become inneffective at some point? Has anyone switched to a new med and still had results? Thank you, Dorothy

My son is 9 1/2 months old, and since he started teething it seems like his prevacid is not enough. We took him to the ped about his reflux flare up, which was due to teething, and she did not increase his prevacid (he is also on 15 mg), but did add Maalox Max as needed for "heartburn". It has helped pretty well. Good luck. Liz

My daughter is almost 9 months and is also on 15 mg of prevacid and her reflux seems to go on and off. Even if I give her medicine... but it gets 10 times worse when she is teething. I have a friend that has a son with horrible reflux and her GI doctor said that some babies do develop and tolerance to the medication and sometimes need switching. I would ask your GI doctor. -Sarah

Teething definitely can exacerbate reflux certainly did in our household. I do have one thought about the prevacid...when we noticed it not being as effective, we split the dose in half and would give half in the am and half in the pm. This significantly helped my son. Some feel that kids metabolize the medicine more quickly than adults do, so the medicine is wearing off if they are only taking it once in the morning. Is your son taking the solutab? This was very easy to split in half. I hope he feels better soon.

symptom 'flare up'
My daughter is 19 weeks old. She has been through several medications and is most recently on 7.5mg of Prevacid, 3.0mL of Axid, and 6 teaspoons of Carafate. Her symptoms seem to cycle. She is not teething at this point. Have other had experiences with cycles of symptoms, not caused by teething?
