Jennifer Kabacy
Newspaper interview
I would be interested! I live in the Tacoma, Washington area, and could contribute to the Tacoma News Tribune, Seattle Times, or Seattle Post Intelligencer. Hope I can help! I can also write, and have access to an editor (my sister). Jennifer Kabacy

A harried, worried and concerned mother
The lack of pediatric ger doctors in this area
My son is 12 years old, has been having problems with stomach and chest pains for about 3-4 yrs. He has asthma and that was thought to be the problem, so asthma medication was changed, added, and doses were raised. He saw a heart doctor to make sure it was not heart trouble. We were at the doctor's office so much, it seemed we lived there!! We were sent to the children' s hospital in chapel hill to see a asthma specialist. Then about a year ago, because the chest and stomach pains did not get better, he was diagnosed with acid reflux....I was relieved because the doctors were looking as if I was being an hysterical mom. But alas, medicine was prescribed, but the reflux got worse, medicine's changed, the reflux is still worse, met with a GI specialist in chapel Hill, set date to do GI testing, an endoscopy and GI probe, but had to cancel because of car trouble. Have set another date, but my point is because of no available doctors here in Jacksonville, New Bern, Wilmington, even Greenville, I have to wait 3 weeks to have the test done, plus pray my car can make the trip and hope to have money enough to have a place to stay, since the test is for overnight staying also. It would be so much easier to have a GI doctor closer. Ms.E.Ruffin

Harried, worried, and concerned mom
pediactric ger
I am adding that I live in north carolina. And the medicines my son is on are reglan, prevacid, zyrtec, singular, advair, maxmair, ultram, naxporsan, rtanna, and one or two others, I can't remember right now. I feel like I am the only mother with a child that has acid relux in the city. Every organization here is for adults. He barely sleeps, hardly eats, and complains every day of chest pain, some days the pain is more severe than others. I am at my wits end. E. Ruffin
