Endoscopy Results
My 18 month old had an endoscopy done on Monday. The results showed that the muscle at the top of his esophagus does not work at all. He also has scar tissue forming at the top of the esophagus. Has anyone else had a similiar result? If so what was reccomended?

Your child needs to have advancement in treatment or at the least an evaluation of current treatment. We do this with an RF tiny probe that is placed in the esophagus (about the size of a ibuprofen caplet). No tubes hanging out no hoses. 48 hrs of data provided. The tiny probe will be pooped out in about 5 days. (you don't have to get it out of the stool). The answer is probably improving the acid reduction treatment (by changing the meds or the doses, etc.) phillipsjo@health.missouri.edu Jeffrey Phillips, PharmD Assoc Prof Surg Director of Research Univ of Missouri Columbia MO 65212
