Helicobacter and GERD, weird endosopy results
My 21 month old son just had a endoscopy and PH probe. No esophagitis or anatomical problems were discovered, and the PH probe was incoclusive, but the biopsies taken during the endoscopy were "interesting". They checked for Helicobacter pylori, a bacteria whih causes stomach ulcers. He was negative. However, he tested positive for H. heilmannii, a similar bacteria normally found in cats and dogs! We do have 2 cats. Treatment is 2 antibiotics plus 20 mg of Prilosec. GI said this could be causing the irritability in addition to GERD. Has anyone heard of this before? I am baffled! Jen w/ Tristan
