PAGER's mission is to:

  • gather and disseminate information on pediatric gastroesophageal reflux (GER) and related disorders;
  • provide educational and emotional support to patients with GER, their families, and professionals;
  • promote greater awareness of GER within both the medical community and the general public; and
  • promote research into the causes, treatments and eventual cure for pediatric GER.

Operating philosophy
At PAGER, we believe that:
  • information parents share with each other can be just as valuable as medical advice
  • pediatric GER may not be a single disorder and there may be many treatments that work for different children
  • parents are the best judge of what works for their child and family, particularly when determining an acceptable quality of life for the child and the family
  • parents are capable of sorting out relevant information, therefore, PAGER does not censor information that could possibly be useful - whether or not it is yet supported by research

  • make sure that the public has a passing familiarity with GER and are aware that support is available
  • produce parent-friendly written, video and electronic information on various aspects of caring for children with GERD and medical issues that are of concern to parents
  • produce information about GER in special populations and more languages
  • write a book on GERD for parents
  • collaborate on more research studies
  • have support networks available in every state

PAGER is home to GERD Nerds (TM), Intensive Care Parenting (TM), The Spit on GERD Campaign (TM), the Lemonade Awards (TM), The Put Out the Fire Chili Festival (TM) and National Tummyache Awareness Day (TM) also known as Puke Day (TM) on November 1.

Fundraising for PAGER
We created a new document listing fun ways to raise funds for PAGER. Some are even easy: do you know a musician who would do a "house concert" in your backyard?
